Pindrop Launches Pindrop BotStopper™ Technology to Detect AI Voice Agents for the Enterprise

Expanding its Identity Trust Platform across customers, workforces and AI agents and backed by an AI Voice Consortium with a registry of more than 5,000 AI voices

ATLANTA, Sept. 16, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pindrop, a global leader in deepfake and fraud detection trusted by 14 of the top 20 U.S. banks, today launched Pindrop BotStopper™ technology, a standalone offering that detects AI agents and automated callers in real time. In one Fortune 500 healthcare deployment, real-time bot detection helped reduce bot activity by 94.3% in under four months after the organization identified more than 30,000 bot calls in less than a year.

The launch anchors a broader expansion of Pindrop's Identity Trust Platform, announced at the company's annual customer conference, extending Pindrop's technology across customers, workforces and AI agents.

AI agents are no longer just calling humans. They are calling enterprise systems directly, checking balances, filing claims and negotiating on behalf of the people they represent and most contact centers cannot tell a legitimate agent from a malicious bot. Recent events underscore how quickly the risks around autonomous AI agents are evolving. OpenAI recently described an incident in which its AI agents circumvented controls, gained internet access and accessed Hugging Face systems as a “warning shot” for the industry. Pindrop research found AI-powered attacks increased nearly 1680% since late 2024 across more than 700 million customer interactions, while IDC projects 1.3 billion AI agents by 2028.

As AI agents increasingly interact and transact on behalf of people and institutions, enterprises need greater visibility into who or what is on the other side of an interaction. Pindrop is expanding its Identity Trust Platform to address this emerging challenge and help organizations establish trust across customers, workforces and AI agents.

"The goal is not to block AI agents. Legitimate agents are going to call enterprises on behalf of real customers and they should be welcomed," said Vijay Balasubramaniyan, CEO and Co-Founder of Pindrop. "The goal is to know which agent is calling, who it represents and what it should be allowed to do. Pindrop BotStopper is the first step. It tells you in about two seconds that the caller is a machine and the AI Voice Consortium tells you which one. Everything we build from here answers the questions that follow."

Introducing Pindrop BotStopper™ Technology

Pindrop BotStopper detects AI voice agents and automated callers in real time, from the moment a call reaches the contact center.

It is built on Pindrop Pulse® technology, the deepfake detection engine that answers one question in about two seconds: is this a human or a machine? Pindrop Pulse for Call Center is already deployed at enterprises to catch synthetic voices. Pindrop BotStopper takes that same detection engine and applies it to the growing challenge of AI agents and automated callers interacting with enterprises at scale.

Three things are new:

  • Standalone. Pindrop BotStopper is available to any enterprise, in any industry, with no other Pindrop product required.
  • Powered by the AI Voice Consortium. A new registry of more than 5,000 AI voices in a Pindrop-managed database lets Pindrop BotStopper recognize known AI agents, not just flag that a voice is synthetic.
  • Step one toward agentic identity. Pindrop BotStopper answers the first question about an AI caller: is it a machine? The questions that follow, which agent is it, who does it represent and what should it be allowed to do, are where Pindrop is taking the platform next.

The results are already showing up in production. At one leading healthcare organization, bot calls peaked at 6,668 in a single month, when approximately $15.1 million in HSA balances were exposed to risk. Within four months of deploying Pindrop's real-time bot detection, that activity had fallen by 94.3%.

At UnitedHealth Group/Optum Financial, the Pindrop Pulse solution helps teams identify bot activity and risk before suspicious interactions reach customer advocates.

"At Optum Financial, trust isn't just a technology question. It's a business, risk and customer experience decision," said Amy Axbom, Sr. Capability Manager, UnitedHealth Group - Optum Financial. "Pindrop Pulse has been a tremendous benefit to both our advocates and our members. By helping us detect bot activity and identify risk before it reaches our advocates, we can better support our teams while giving our members a better, more secure experience."

These are not simple scripted bots. They are AI agents that adapt in real time, mislead when challenged and go off the rails in pursuit of their goals. Pindrop is seeing them across healthcare, financial services, insurance and retail, probing systems for information, consuming contact-center capacity and impersonating legitimate customers. The Pindrop BotStopper technology helps enterprises guard sensitive data, preserve agent capacity for real customers and catch reconnaissance before it becomes a breach.

The detection engine behind Pindrop BotStopper has been independently validated. In a June 2026 Podonos benchmark of audio deepfake detection systems, Pindrop Pulse® technology was one of only four systems to exceed 95% accuracy and was identified by Podonos as the fastest accurate detector evaluated, demonstrating the combination of accuracy and speed required for real-time detection.

The Pindrop BotStopper solution is available today. Existing Pindrop Pulse for Call Center customers receive the Pindrop BotStopper solution and access to the AI Voice Consortium at no additional cost. New customers who purchase Pindrop BotStopper as part of the full Pindrop product suite, may qualify for up to $1 million in reimbursement under the Pindrop Pulse Warranty.*

Expanding the Pindrop Intelligence Network for an AI Agent World

Pindrop introduced the AI Voice Consortium, a new source of intelligence for the Pindrop Intelligence Network (PIN), launching with a registry of more than 5,000 AI voices. The consortium adds intelligence about known AI voices to the network, powering the Pindrop BotStopper solution and helping enterprises detect AI agents and automated callers in real time. It brings "know your agent" to the voice channel, the same way payment networks and identity providers are now verifying AI agents in digital transactions.

PIN is the core intelligence layer at the heart of the Pindrop platform, built from more than 8 billion real-world interactions across voice, device, network and behavioral signals. It gives customers immediate access to fraud and threat intelligence gathered across Pindrop's network. As new interactions reveal emerging fraud patterns and AI voice technologies, that intelligence strengthens the platform and helps enterprises detect threats faster.

Pindrop also announced new PIN capabilities that combine additional risk signals, NextGen ANI Validation and expanded fraud intelligence to help enterprises identify suspicious interactions, distinguish legitimate customers from fraudulent or automated activity and make faster, more informed trust decisions.

Together, the AI Voice Consortium and the expanded PIN provide the foundation for Pindrop's longer-term vision: helping enterprises understand which AI agent is interacting, who it represents and what level of trust and access it should receive.

Pindrop Expands Deepfake Detection Across Virtual Meetings and Hiring Platforms

Pindrop is also expanding its identity trust capabilities deeper into the enterprise.

Pindrop Pulse® for Meetings is adding continuous video analysis during screen sharing, extending deepfake detection throughout the virtual meeting. Pulse for Meetings can now integrate with leading hiring platforms to detect proxy candidates, identity swaps and inconsistencies across interview stages, with results automatically written back to the candidate record. Recruiting teams can stay focused on the interview while Pulse monitors for threats and provides a clear audit trail of what was detected.

These capabilities extend Pindrop’s Identity Trust Platform into hiring and workforce interactions, helping enterprises determine whether the person on the other side is both real and the right person.

New Agentic Capabilities to Augment Fraud and Risk Teams

Pindrop is also showcasing new agentic capabilities designed to help fraud and risk teams use Pindrop intelligence more effectively.

A new Fraud Investigation Agent helps analysts interpret evidence and identify connections across suspicious activity, while Enrollment Agent applies Pindrop intelligence alongside enterprise policies to support more consistent enrollment decisions.

The capabilities reflect another dimension of Pindrop's AI agent strategy: not only helping enterprises determine which external agents they can trust, but also putting AI agents to work alongside human fraud and risk teams, with enterprise policies and human judgment remaining in control.
